Road trips and Resolutions(literally)

So there goes 2009.

I don't have resolutions for this new year except maybe for being a little more bitchy, just for a change. If you could call that a resolution, then I guess I did make one. I'm trapped between wanting and not wanting to fulfill this certain resolution. But, we'll see how I fare. Bwahahaha! Joke.

I spent the Christmas vacation with old college friends at San Juan Surf Resort in La Union. When I say old, it refers to the length of time we have known each other and not exactly about our ages. Whoa, talk about getting defensive and stuff. Well, if you get to think about it, as everyday passes you get older. Not younger; but inevitably closer to an older age; one day closer to say 24 y.o. - well, you get the drift.

Anyway, as I was saying, we went to this great surfing resort in La Union. We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. On the 2nd day, we decided to go on a side trip to Vigan. This decision was utterly made on the misguided idea that Vigan is only two hours away from where we were staying. Ha-ha. Guess what? It took us 6 hours - 6 friggin' hours -to arrive. We left the surf resort at around 1:30 pm and arrived at sundown in Vigan. I was on the verge of throwing tantrums while riding the bus. And, mind you, the bus that we rode in deserves a major tantrum. Imagine all the unnecessary stops, the ripped cushion seats, and the long hours of waiting…and waiting…and waiting. Plus, we were starved. The plan was to have lunch at Vigan but we ended up having dinner instead. Where? Jollibee Vigan branch, the place to be, that's where. Do you know the term "galit-galit"? That's how we were while eating. After dinner, we returned to being our perky selves and were now able to laugh about the suspected jinxed trip. At least, there was the calesa ride to be happy about. I’ve been to Vigan before but I was alone on that trip. Well, not exactly alone – but with my boss, on business trip.

So much for my road rage this past holiday season. Come to think of it, I’ve been to many new places last year: Potipot, Boracay, Bicol, La Union, and Vigan. I’m surely looking forward to traveling this year. In June, I’ll be going to Iloilo with Cathy and Jonna. Who knows where else I could go in between now and the end of the year.

Before I close, here are a few snapshots from our La Union trip. Happy New Year everyone!
