Would you donate an organ?
Me? I was thinking about it... and I admit it's not the most comforting thought. I was going home one night and I heard the topic on a radio show and yes, it got me thinking. Organ donation is no doubt a noble act/cause.
Years ago, we made a class paper on this subject - some sort of communication plan on how to promote organ donation. I remember bits and pieces of the paper but cannot quite bring to mind how we were going to convince people to donate.
It's such a big responsibility - donating an organ. Yes, donating might mean you're already dead by the time you become a donor. But look at it this way, you have to really take good care of your body if you want others to benefit from, err, your body parts. Again, it's not the most comforting thought for me but I'd like to do it someday (if my vital parts qualify). I remember the closing remark either the DJ or the guest speaker made (I really can't remember things), something like if your life didn't have much of a purpose, then let your death be purposeful by being an organ donor.

Blah
So far, my calendar is still full --- of meetings and deadlines. And here I am blogging, foregoing precious minutes I can use to polish a presentation or to cook up some analysis for some data.
I've been in this industry for almost four years now. The road has never been smooth, of course. I am not complaining - no one is. But somehow, sometimes I think of how it would be like to work on a less cerebral (for a lack of a better term) atmosphere. What if at the end of an eight-hour shift I can, actually, call it quits. Like I wouldn't have to think about work on weekends. Wouldn't it be nice to leave everything behind at the office after your work shift?
Don't get me wrong, I think I'm in the right job. I love brainstorming and making sense out of numbers. I like the perks that comes with all the clout this work can give you. But, of course, along with the perks, there comes the inevitable stress that sometimes you really feel like you just want to take a break for some time. I need "sanity breaks", just like everyone else. I need to not think, even on a temporary basis only.

Hello September and Christmas Shopping Resolutions
Well, hello September! How time flies! It's officially the start of the 'ber' months leading to Christmas hehehe. I can already feel the Christmas wind at night. :)
Some people say that the FM stations start to play Xmas songs and do Xmas countdowns by the start of this month. Some also advise people to start Xmas shopping as early as September. Me? Nah, I'm a last minute Yuletide shopper. And mind you, most of the things I actually buy are for --ME. Hahaha. Usually I give out aguinaldos to godchildren, nieces/nephews, and cousins. This practice makes me totally broke by the time January sets in (the fact that January 15 - payday- is way too faraway does not really help.)I don't really have any Christmas shopping resolutions, save for one which is to go to Christmas bazaars this year instead of the malls. I heard it's cheaper and you can get good deals.
How about you? How's your September? :)

Waiting
A scar that burns
deep into my flesh
something that time cannot regress
it sits there, waiting
for a cure - an antidote that can heal
or a way to stitch the dying flesh.
It is like waiting for a train that would never come
or that would never come back
You missed it by an hour
You were out of your league
it has gone long ago since you arrived
It was the last train to catch.
It is like waiting for the white hot tears to stop
For the widows to give up, to stop their mourning
For the sky to turn a violent shade of green
The hollow feeling to close up
The gap to be filled
Something that even time cannot heal.
A memory that sears my heart
that stings into my mind
a darkness that i cannot fathom
it sits there like a Pharisee
mocking me with its sneers and jeers
waiting to crucify me.
